Every Thursday and Friday, during their morning class I train the contestants about spelling words properly. They learned several tips on how to spell words by breaking words to syllables, identifying affixes and root words and working out with their phonics.
Last Tuesday, June 29, 2010, we held the first round of the competition classified as The EASY Category. Surprisingly a lot of students showed their spelling skills well. Out of 18 students, the number was trimmed down to 13 and 5 students had to go. The 13 students will compete against each other for The AVERAGE Category which will be held this coming Tuesday, 6th of July 2010. I personally enjoyed the activity as the students enjoyed it themselves. This activity will not be possible without the assistance of Ms. Mizel and the support from Ms. Kwan and Ms. Prapapat.
The last part of the competition, The DIFFICULT Category, where we will choose the BEST SPELLER will be held on the 13th of July 2010.

On the first week two students from each class, 18 students all in all, will be competing against each other for the title BEST SPELLER. And each week some students will have to leave the competition as the words become more and more difficult.

This school year 2010-2011, Sarasas Witaed Romklao has introduced a new subject which will be presented to our kindergarten students. It is called 'Discovery'. This new topic is an excellent medium by which the native speaking teachers here at Sarasas introduce science into the young student's daily lives.
Students in kindergarten here at Sarasas will learn what they need to know about life, physical, and earth and space science. While taking part in discovery lessons, the children's environment will be filled with opportunities to explore materials, observe and take part in exciting projects and speak about their observations.
Make full use of their five senses. Learning which body part is used to gather specific sensory information by describing their observations, "I see....I hear....I can smell."
Use new vocabulary by talking about their about their observations and sharing ideas about why the thing they observed happened. This will also help the students to work together while encouraging each other.
They will also be able to use these new skills in other subjects, for example, science and math go hand in hand as they will have opportunities to count, compare , measure, record and make sense of their observations.
What a great way to practice exciting new skills while building new vocabulary.
